Had a rather shitty weekend. Apart from the muse disappearing on me, I woke up Saturday morning with a stiff neck, and it eventually deteriorated into nerve pain down my right arm/shoulder. My hips were acting up as well, been battling with them for about a month.
With the physical and emotional pain, lack of sleep, and heat, I was absolutely miserable. Cried a lot last night.

Was supposed to be doing stocktake at my brother's old store today, thought it was best not to, even though I need the money.
Got a physio appointment for 11am. Cracked my hips, back and neck. Some inflammation in my neck and shoulder, and was helping cause the nerve problems down my arm. I could barely raise my arms to put my hair up this morning, now I can.

Also helped that I was worked on for 90 minutes by a *very* gorgeous physio student from George Washington University in Washington, DC ;) He and another student are doing one of their rotations out here.
Another appointment Wednesday, rheumatologist tomorrow.

I'm feeling a lot brighter. Amazing what difference being able to move makes to your outlook. Hopefully the muse will consider returning.

For the first time I got to watch the SAGs live (well the first half I was down at physio, so it on tape).
Slightly different look for Allison, gorgeous as always.

Went to KMart yesterday to try and find Frances on dvd (with Jessica Lange - amazing but distressing film about the actress Frances Farmer, haven't seen it in about 10 years). Couldn't find it, but I gave into my Allison Janney obsession, buying Drop Dead Gorgeous and How To Deal. Not the greatest films, but 15% off and it's Allison! And I smiled at the front cover of How To Deal with Allison Janney "The West Wing". They know how to market it out here ;)

Mum managed to find Frances for me today.

And some great dvds coming out in the next few months: The Sweet Hereafter (which I haven't been able to find either on tv or video since I saw it at the movies so long ago), Prime Suspect (boxset of the first 5, I'm telling myself that I don't need it), Man from Snowy River, Gods Must Be Crazy 1 and 2...

***

I don't think I'm cut out for writing. I'm too much of a perfectionist and it stresses me. Plus I have no discipline, and being published is nothing but a fantasy.

These last few weeks with being so frustrated and it's like pulling teeth...it's making me so depressed. Maybe it's best I stop all of it now.

I rang 7 this morning, they no longer have the rights to the Golden Globes. I mentioned how they played it a week late last year and the bloke said they'd had a lot of complaints. I'm wondering whether they dropped or lost the rights.
And now even more people can complain!
Might write a letter to 10 and ask whether they can pick the rights up again for next year.
But thanks to my lovely Rhonda I will be getting a tape.

And on the red carpet on ET:
Mary Hart: And we found out a wedding day may be in the works for the West Wing's Allison Janney and her man Richard Jenik.

Jann Carl: How serious is this getting?
RJ: I know how serious it's getting.
AJ (she wouldn't have to change initials): I know how serious it's getting too.
RJ: And that's what's important. (thank you, Kansas, for figuring it out)
AJ laughs.
RJ: And I think the public will know how serious it's getting probably within the next couple of months.

She was wearing a ring on her left ring finger (though she has before and it's been a borrowed ring).

Is it just me, or is that some unfortunate positioning?

And I have the perfect icon thanks to [livejournal.com profile] melwil.

Finally saw Finding Nemo Friday with mum and my sister.
Adored it. Funny, great characters, and the most gorgeous animation I've ever seen. The shafts of light through the water, the storm clouds near the end with the fishing boat...amazingly realistic.

The Sydney Harbour I know and love, even down to the sewerage outflow off North Head :)
Plus in-jokes for the Aussies - "Diver Dan" ;)
And for the West Wingers - Peach (Allison Janney) got to say "Root canal"! I giggled. Damn that they don't seem to have released the large Peach plush out here, I've only managed to get a little one.

I want to see it again.

My rheumatologist let out a sigh of relief and wiped his forehead when I showed him the healed chilblains :) He's a lovely man!

I have to stay on the medication for now, but as long as it stays the same I can go off the patches in 2 weeks, stay on the others.
All my blood tests were normal as per usual. Elevated white blood cell count, but not surprising due to the inflammation in my hand. Liver, kidney function fine. Still clear of lupus, etc.

I'm going to have an MRA - Magnetic Resonance Angiography. Essentially a MRI of the blood vessels. He wants to see if there's any blockages or narrowing in the right arm/hand. He said this test is a lot less invasive than the angiograms used to be, don't need to inject the dye into the artery. He's putting in the form today and the hospital (Royal North Shore) will contact me. Sounds like it's one of the newer bigger MRI machines from how he was describing the space that would be around me. I'm not exactly claustrophobic, but tend to get a little nervous. When I had the full body bone scan the thing was a little close to my face for my liking.

Then I have to see him 7-10 days after I have it. From there he'll work out the next step.

Highlight of my morning was being stopped by the Spit Bridge being up to allow some yachts through ;)

Watched the end of West Wing episode "The Short List" at lunch...:sigh: over the Gail giving and CJ's laugh...

And I've reverted to primary school. Been putting stickers on my new (well 2nd hand) filing cabinet. Eeyore and friends, fish and butterflies. My computer and the surround of the computer screen are also covered with various stickers, and one desk door (my desk is built into a cupboard so the doors can be closed on the mess) has West Wing pictures (mainly Allison Janney (lots of bare long legs)/CJ and Danny), the other a poster of the Eagle Nebula from Hubble.
Why look at blank surfaces when you can have pretty things?

We remember them

Fun visit to the rheumatologist this morning. Have been having trouble with chilblains (ulcerated) and vasculitis and am on my second course of Prednisone in a month.

He's a little worried about it, though he did say I'm not the only one. He's had quite a few patients come in with circulation problems over the last few weeks.

I'm having more medication. Low dose aspirin, Plendil (felodipine) which is a calcium channel blocker and relaxes the blood vessels, and nitrate patches that are used for angina, except I'll have it on my wrist (at my brother's wedding on Saturday I'll say I'm trying to kick the cigarettes ;)). Hopefully all that will help open up the circulation (without too many headaches or fainting), and I see him again in 2-3 weeks. If it gets really bad again I'll have to go into hospital for three days to be put on a drip of stuff to dilate the arteries. It has to be done in hospital because it can drop the blood pressure too far. Though I think he got the idea that I wasn't very impressed with that scenario ;)

But he said we may have to consider it as an option for the start of each winter, it lasts a few months.

My brother had taken digital photos of the chilblains last week, I asked my doc whether he wanted it for my file. He said yes ;)
Had half my blood drawn for testing on the way home and got the medication.
Crossing the unsore fingers.

My LiveJournal Sitcom
Being krazykitkat (TNN, 12:30): krazykitkat (Don Knotts) and cappuccinogirl (Jimmy Smits) buy the dentist's office. Afterwards, wereadshite (Anjelica Huston) claims to be priya (Nick Nolte) in a job interview. Nearby, mandysbitch (Ice Cube) hires whitestar2 (Roma Downey) to perform pantomime at a party. Then, otp (David Hasselhoff) finds a baby photo in michellek (David Carradine)'s sock drawer. On the other side of town, pixiesio (James Best) buys cortese (Tom Waits) a parakeet. Insanity ensues.

More on little Johnny's survival of the species declaration:
Saving the species: it's an ughly job, but Bo-Bo stands ready

Particularly giggled over:
So many species have become extinct, but until now I'd never spotted the connection with gay marriage. The dodo. The Tahitian sandpiper. The Tasmanian tiger. Presumably all of them, at one point or another, relented and allowed gay marriage. Next thing: poof. The whole species gone. The Mauritian flying-fox. The Tongan giant skink. The spectacled cormorant. All victims of gay marriage.

Take the mystery of the dinosaurs. For millions of years, dominating the earth. And then sudden extinction. The Prime Minister of Australia may be the first to have solved the mystery. They allowed gay marriage. A few years on, and the whole institution of dinosaur marriage was sapped of meaning. The straight dinosaurs began standing around in ugh boots, toasting muffins and forgetting to procreate.

Worse, the straight dinosaurs could no longer get anyone to cater their wedding parties because all the gay dinosaurs were too busy doing their own receptions. Ten years on and there goes the whole order.

It takes a pretty special prime minister to understand this sort of hidden evolutionary history. We are indeed a lucky people.

And on a totally different topic, Kelloggs has Finding Nemo things. I tore into the pack of rice bubbles and lo and behold I got Peach :)
My AJ love knows no bounds...now I want the Peach plush...
