Question for the east coast of the US section of my flist:

I'm looking for spring flowering plants that would grow in the general area of Delaware. Specifically pink/red shades. Would camellias, azaleas, magnolias and dogwoods fit the bill? Anything else that comes to mind?

Definitely azaleas, magnolias, and dogwood. Also red or pink tulips, hyacinth, rhododendron, mountain laurel.
(I wouldn't know a camellia if I saw one, which doesn't prove anything.)

Thank you for the added ideas.

Camellia sinensis is the plant species that produces tea. Other types of camellias have gorgeous flowers. They're native to eastern and southern Asia from the Himalaya east to Japan and Indonesia.

Camellia japonica 'Pink Perfection' (Camellia japonica is the most common species used in gardens)

All of thee above. And Cherry Blossoms in the early spring. I particularly like the idea of dogwood though. :)

huh. i always think of those flowers as more southern. like, virginia and the carolinas. i couldn't tell you what we have up here instead though.

plus i live in the urban jungle, so you know. we see flowers and think, ooooh, exotic! our city councilmember must have worked hard for that! ;)

Delaware latitude-wise is on level with the top of Virginia. And I think most of those plants are relatively hardy and can grow over a reasonable range of conditions.
