A little swing against Ruddock, and the Greens are up to nearly 10% in my seat.
It was going to be a close to impossible job based on history. Oppositions don't win, governments lose. And governments don't get kicked out when times are "good" (unless you're about to sell your house, the housing bubble isn't a good thing, plus you have to buy another one which will be just as expensive, and your mortgage is horrific).
Bad enough that Labor has lost a couple of seats.
But even worse, looks like the Coalition will have half the Senate.
So wave goodbye to Telstra, say hello to even more draconian "terrorism"/anti-civil liberty laws and more secrecy.
What the hell do I do? Is the country I believe in dead and buried? Does social justice even exist anymore? Or is everyone all "aspirational" (I so hate that term, some of just are more realistic and care about others more than our hip pockets)?
This country has moved so far to the right, I can't see it ever coming back.
I really do feel like there's no point anymore.
