krazykitkatMy sister left for Siding Spring Observatory on Saturday morning with her honours' supervisor. He's got nearly a week of observing time, and they'll be using the data for her thesis.
About a 7 hour drive, and they hit the locust plague around the Merriwa/Dunedoo area, yellow crap all over the car. Once they got to Coonabarabran, they had to take it to a car wash.
She's homesick (not used to being alone, the youngest of 4 kids and always living in a noisy house) and generally tired and buggered.
Wasn't too impressed with dinner last night. Didn't help that dinner is served at 5.30pm, and they were late because they had to get the car washed, so they had to reheat it. Wasn't something she really eats to begin with.
They're staying at a lodge up at the telescope. She said it's gorgeous up there. It's up in the Warrumbungle Ranges, which can be seen here, here, and here.
They start observing tonight, back Saturday.

One good thing about nothing on tv the last week, catching up on checking dvds we've bought recently. Friday night The Hours, The African Queen last night, E.T. tonight. I went and saw ET for my ninth birthday, in at the gorgeous old State Theatre in Sydney. I cried then, and I cried again tonight.

Just looking up some things on imdb, and found this movie title that made me laugh - Introducing Krazy Kat and Ignatz Mouse. Silent animation short from 1916.
