We had Lara Kate from late yesterday arvo till late this arvo. I managed to leave work on time yesterday evening (helped by the computer system being down for the last two hours of my shift) and see her before she went to bed.

This morning, she woke up around 8.15am (seems to be her usual time) and went into bed with Kasey and Pa for 45 minutes. Mum said it was lovely cuddling her. Lara came in to wake my sister and I at 11am. I asked for a kiss, got one (complete with dummy, at least it stops the tongue), and then she went over and kissed her Aunty Rinne without being asked. Dad decided to start the Home Hardware dogs my sister and I have on the dressing table singing, which created a little monster who wanted it again and again :)

Mum, sister and I took her for a walk, taking turns pushing the stroller. She heard a lawn mower and said 'Dada'. When my sister was pushing, mum and I walked either side of her and she put her arms out so we would hold her hands. Since she had no hands left, she held Piggy's tail in her mouth :) Piggy ended up road kill on the way back, went under the stroller wheels.

She watched Finding Nemo this morning (I thought I could quote it before, I think I'm going to end up knowing it word for word), and The Muppet Show this arvo. She put her dummy up against the tv screen, trying to put it in Kermit and Sam's mouths. 'Down' is her favourite word. The curtain in the lounge room tried to eat her.

Been getting some lovely cuddles from her. Not quite full ones, but she puts her head on your shoulder, and sometimes pats or strokes your back :)

We'll probably have her tomorrow night.

Heeeeeeeen til it hurts. So, so true.

You are having a lovely time, I can tell. They are sad circumstances, but I'm so pleased that you can have this time with Lara.

She dry kissed for a while, but then went back to the tongue!

We are grateful for this time, she's become very comfortable being here with us. Just hope we'll still get some time with her after all this is over (mum would like maybe once a fortnight).

She was lovely tonight. After her dad left she didn't want to be put down, so she got handed around. Every time you tried to put her down, she'd clamp her legs around you like a monkey.

After she had dinner, she came and sat on my lap. We've got two books, a snail and a caterpillar, that have googly eyes on stalks (made of material). You put your fingers in the holes at the back of the book, like a puppet. She was fascinated when she saw them the other day and has worked out how to do it herself :) Then she wanted down, but stayed around me, leaning against me and sometimes putting her head on my knee...it was so wonderful. Then she grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bathroom because she heard the bath running.

Tired though, pretty much didn't get any rest this weekend, and I need that to keep me going through the week.

Barely slept Sunday night, maybe an hour or two. Mixture of my brain being tied in knots, and my body wouldn't relax. Found that before if I don't get enough rest during the day, body is too uptight to relax to sleep. Still went to work.

Spent a little time with Lara, she wanted picking up so she could watch Pa eating his breakfast. After I'd had breakfast I was out in the rumpus room on the computer. Mum called saying Lara was looking for me, so I went back to the kitchen for a minute where she was eating apple. As I went back to the rumpus room, she was watching me go, and clearly said, "mum". Not sure whether she was referring to me or what. Though mum said Lara's referred to various men in her life as dad a few times, and my cousin, whom mum partially raised when she was little, sometimes called my mum 'mum'.

I'm sure she's using it to describe you as an important person in her life - a care giver. That's wonderful.

It was a university job - but I stuff it up and missed the deadline. *Face palm*

Oh well, I'm sure there will be others.
