Have watched the first 5 eps of season 2 SGA.
I'm loving Ronon. While muscles don't do much for me, I love his face :) And I like Lt Cadman and after watching Condemned this morning, I'm really liking Lorne. I particularly liked his interactions with Liz and now have a little hankering for Liz/Lorne (and maybe Liz/Ronon - Liz is like CJ for me, she should sleep with everyone!).
Loved the reference McKay made to MacGyver.

Yep, knew about that. It was in the TV Week last year ;)
Maybe it will mean he'll be able to do a con out here.

Jason told myself and another aussie fan and we're like 'OK', because dude, NOT the type of show I ever watch.
My second thought was, 'So, can she be in SGA so we can have a authentic Australian rep on Atlantis'.
With regard to Liz/Lorne you might like 'The Lost Boys' and 'The Long Goodbye' because there is some interaction between them then.

Date: 2006-02-16 01:43 pm (UTC)I've never watched McLeod's either. Her name is Simmone Jade Mackinnon.
I've seen The Long Goodbye and loved Evil!Weir. but it made me realise that I'm starting to lose interest in Sheppard, not sure whether it's the actor or the writers or both.

I like ambiguity. (and not necessarily that type). The jury is still out.

Date: 2006-02-16 01:54 pm (UTC)I think he was a definite weak spot in TLG, there was really no difference in Shep when he was possessed. It might have worked better say with Ronon and Liz :)

Date: 2006-02-16 01:57 pm (UTC)He's no DH, but what other material I've seen of him he can do far better then he has in SGA, so I don't know what's up with that.
I thought he did well in 'Epiphany' and 'Grace Under Pressure' for all that was a DH ep.

Date: 2006-02-16 01:43 pm (UTC)But I don't think TPTB are going to go anywhere with it. I think from what I've read, and what the actors said that they are going to have some type of John/Liz/Teyla triangle. I don't know if I'm in for that.

i need a Ronon icon.

Date: 2006-02-16 01:56 pm (UTC)But...behind the action I think will see that TPTB have certain canonical preferences, and despite you know, making jokes about McKay/Zelenka and how they should become closer, I'm certain that TPTB aren't going to go in that direction (or any same sex direction). Stupid TPTB. ;)

Date: 2006-02-18 07:08 am (UTC)Me neither. It sounds even more annoying than the continuing UST saga between Sam and Jack. *Sigh*

Date: 2006-02-18 07:10 am (UTC)Also, season 2 left me cold. I don't know how much more of this I'll feel compelled to watch.

Date: 2006-02-21 10:15 am (UTC)Dude - don't worry. I didn't think you were doing more than suggesting.

Well, it might just be me. So many things go into appreciating a show (or a movie, or anything for that matter). Timing (I'm a little stressed at the moment), comfort, mind set - all play a factor. Sometimes it's just the place where your taste is at any given time. Who knows? I'm always hesitant to say "that show sucked" or "that season sucked" in case someone else is unconsciously swayed to see it my way. Hopesfully not. Anyway, the point is, you may find you really enjoy it.

Date: 2006-02-16 08:13 pm (UTC)Really? Couldn't stand her or most of the episode, made me cringe. If the positions had been reversed, and it had been a disembodied male in a female's body, I doubt they would have dared play the same actions for laughs they way they did. Seizing control of her actions, hitting on her friends, stripping her off and taking control of the body while unconscious etc.
Plus, I just can't stand cringe humour, which is what I found a lot of the episode to be. I've never watched the 'date' scene, just too painful.

Date: 2006-02-18 07:39 am (UTC)I liked the real Cadman at the start. I thought in the rest of the episode she was a bit overdone (I thought DH overexaggerated his movements when it was 'her').
Maybe it makes me sexist or shallow, but I enjoyed the episode for what it was. IIRC there was a movie with Guy Pearce and Claudia Karvan where they swapped bodies. I haven't seen it, so I don't know how far they went, but it has been done. And actually I think I may've been more interested in Rodney stuck in her body.

Date: 2006-02-18 11:51 pm (UTC)And I definitely thought DH didn't do that well at portraying a woman - I totally saw him auditioning for the Jack Lemmon role in a remake of "Some Like It Hot" instead. Which is something I'd watch. Towards the end of the episode, when he wasn't being over the top, the switching between personalities was a lot better.
I remember that film, but can't remember specifics, so don't know whether I was bothered. But Cadman's actions really annoyed me.
