I saw Serenity today with my sister and brother (his second viewing).
I loved it and will probably see it again with my sister.
*double sniff*
I knew about both deaths, but didn't know how (and as my sister said, it's Joss, someone has to die). And Wash's shocked me. I put my hand over my mouth and may've squeaked. And there were tears, though more later. Especially with Zoe. I thought the things on the top of the graves were a little bit hokey.
I'm very impressed with Summer Glau. And "I swallowed a bug" was priceless.
And I adored the closing with River and Mal.
Tears and laughter and thrills. What more could you want.
I'm not in the fandom, but I understand there's a lot of carry on and moaning about how it isn't doing well enough. Was it actually ever expected to do fabulously? I couldn't see it as ever being anything more than a smaller film. Apparently while it's in the lower half of the top 10, it's got the highest screen average of any film in Australia.

Date: 2005-10-08 08:25 pm (UTC)I think the moaning comes from the fact that if it doesn´t do well, we won´t get the sequels. But it´s not doing that bad, it was number 2 in the box office in the US first week, that´s not bad.

I did find Book's death rather anti-climatic though... It didn't hit me like Wash's did.
