Oh dear...I'm up to Category 5 (as Mum said, no wonder I'm tired). I'm trying very hard to avoid New Orleans (something is niggling at the back of my brain that someone from mceb is there).

Any MDA watchers...was I imagining that Gabrielle Bromley was hitting on Amanda?

Exhausted. But watched 5 episodes of Earth 2 this weekend - A Memory Play through to Redemption.

Love the whole Julia/Council plot (and Jessica Steen is a favourite), and this show must've been where I started my love affair with Terry O'Quinn. And Devon/Danziger tied up together in Water...

*reminder to self* Order Earth 2 Bioxset soon. Kat talking about it only makes you more insanely jealous. Oh how I heart Devon/Danziger.

Redemption is by far my favorite ep; second favorite has to be Survival of the Fittest (though, Brave New Pacifica is very close in the running). the Julia/Council story line was more ... meatier than the Gaal/penal colonists or even the Mary storylines in terms of continuity.

I was never really happy with the way the Devon/Danziger ship was done.. though "Water" is a great ep with them in it, as is BNP. hee!

Damn...I'm not getting some of the comments through...

I'm so enjoying watching them again.

How would you liked to have seen them do the D/D? I always liked them arguing.

Oh, I loved them arguing, that's no doubt; but I think they just sort of dumped that on us all at once (sorta kinda). it wasn't the nice build up of Julia/Alonzo (wasn't it in "The Memory Play" where Alonzo is on the dreamplane and he sees his old girlfriend now old? Julia and Alonzo weren't even an 'item' yet , though Alonzo was definately thinkin that as he dreams Julia as part of that ...) and in "Greatest Love Story Never Told" we get Devon automatically falling for Shepherd because of some series of dreams -- which seemed out of character, and The Elder (???) telling John that John loves Devon. That was just too... cheesy.

BUT, love love love John punching out Alonzo in "Brave New Pacifica" -- THAT was in character.

I think if they stuck with the 'arguing like an old married couple' schtick, ala "Water" it would have been cooler.

Who are the people that name these things? Perhaps they read your journal article and your name made an impression on them?

THat would be cool...but unfortunately not.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml has the names that are used. They have an alphabetical list for each year, the next Atlantic hurricane will be called Lee.

With the damage that Katrina has caused, it is most likely that the name will be retired for the Atlantic (Andrew (1992 Florida) and Camille (Mississippi 1969) are no longer used, they were 2 of only 3 category 5 to make landfall).

Katrina is also on the list for Eastern Australia.

Well there you go! I didn't know there was a list - I always thought they were named by the first scientist who spotted the entity on the radar or in some way like that.

I guess, given the magnitude of devastation, they might also want to retire the name from the Eastern Australia list?

I doubt they would. I'm not actually sure how they retire the names here, but it's a separate issue.
