Feb. 3rd, 2011 12:53 amSniffles died just after midday. He was only 3 and a half.
Was weird, he was chatting away this morning and I thought he looked a little better. Got him out to give him the antibiotic, he was terrible when he was put back in the cage, on the floor wings out, struggling to breathe. He managed to calm down a bit and get up on the perch, then half an hour later he was on the floor again. Dad was ringing the vet so he could take him there to be put down, and mum said don't worry, he's dead :(
Considering the timing, I can't help but feel responsible, worry that maybe I choked him giving him the antibiotic or something. I guess he was just really sick. Tests wouldn't have helped, he would have probably died from the handling.
It's been strange, he improved the first few days on the antibiotics, then crashed on Friday, then improved again over the weekend. Sunday he seemed almost normal, didn't puff when we gave him the medicine, was running around and talking, then Monday he was struggling again. I just feel like I should have done more. Fought for a couple of months with CJ, but Sniffles is gone in 2 weeks.
