Jan. 8th, 2008 01:23 amThank you for all the good health vibes and love for Sniffles.
He's still with us. He's improved every day. He's eating fine, his poops finally seem to be back to reasonably normal, he's chirping and head bobbing and moving around.
Still concerning us though. His breathing is still a bit heavy and I can't tell if he's putting on weight or still losing it. He's always been a slight bird, but he's really skinny at the moment. But I don't think there's really anything else that can be done that won't cost a fortune. Maybe it's just a matter of waiting, he's still on antibiotics.
*have used my quota of 'still'*
Since we saw the vet a week ago he's been in the smaller cage by himself, next to the bigger cage. Keeping him quiet as we can, not moving around too much, not allowed to fly. For the first few days Danny was all concerned and paying attention and climbing up the side of the cage, but got over it...Snoopy took over to the point where he started getting annoying. A couple of times we've had to catch Sniffles, Snoopy has gone off his little brain and called at the top of his lungs. If Sniffles went down to eat at the far end of the cage, Snoopy would start climbing the walls and carrying on, even though he could see him.
Sniffles was allowed out for a little fly today (he was getting very antsy with hearing the other birds) and went back in the big cage for a short social visit. He kept following Snoopy, but Snoopy didn't want anything to do with him. When Sniffles was with the other babies in the smaller cage when we first got them, Snoopy was interested in Sniffles, we wonder whether it's because they're both green. But as soon as Sniffles went in the big cage, he didn't care.
We'll probably keep Sniffles in the smaller cage until the antibiotics are finished (not sure how many drops are left, I'm assuming we're meant to give it to him until it's finished, the vet didn't tell us).
Please let him be okay.
