Jan. 2nd, 2007 12:24 amMaking my way through Yuletide fics, will rec some soon. But I have to rec this one now:
Chasing Cars (Pretender)
Apart from it being a fabulous story, I am amused by the fact that it was written by my gorgeous
anr for my equally gorgeous
athena4lynn. Ness meet Jen. Jen meet Ness.
And my dear Ness, I am very proud that I guessed it was by you :)

Dad went for a walk this morning and as per usual found someone to talk to (no matter where he goes he'll either find someone he knows (side effect of being a cop I guess) or will find a willing workman or member of the public). Bloke who lives just up the road who has a rain gauge. He said that in the storm on Friday he recorded 32mm (about 1 and a quarter inches) in half an hour.
I want me a rain gauge. I really want one of the good weather stations which transmit the date to your computer, but that's about $400-500. A rain gauge will have to do at the moment.
And today they've had nearly 3 inches of rain at the recording station at Warragamba Dam.

Sister and I cleaned our bedroom today. Had hoped to clean ours plus the brother's, but we got a late start because of a blackout between about 2 and 3pm. Plus we started on vacuuming the venetian blinds, but then decided they were totally grotty and ended up actually wiping them down. Then the window sill and the windows and the window track...then we got to the actual vacuuming of the carpet and moving beds and dressing tables and things out of the bottom of wardrobes... Hoping to get the other bedroom done tomorrow. Then before next week (when sister goes back to uni) need to get the parents' bedroom and the lounge/dining room done - all the carpeted areas which are too difficult now for our parents (sister does the actual pushing, I do the edges and skirting boards). The rest of the house is lino and that's easier for them or I to do, and mum wants to wash those floors. I'm going to be a little sore.
And plumber should be coming tomorrow to fix our sewer properly.
