My journal article is finally submitted to Geophysical Research Letters...now it's a matter of waiting.

I'll be surprised if they do accept it. It's one of the biggest journals and is very broad in the science areas it covers. Very competitive.

Got a little bit of work on Monday. My sister called saying they were looking for someone to do some collating/photocopying etc. Probably only 4-5 hours, but $80 or so dollars will come in handy. Plus it's not my uni division, so doing this might result in more possible casual work in the physics area.
I've met the bloke who's doing it, he's one of the astronomy lecturers. He's dealing with the report that has to go to the research office, so I have to check that everyone (in the division I assume) sent back their forms, photocopy them and take them to the research office apparently.

- Find out why growing numbers of doctors and pharmacists across the US are refusing to prescribe or dispense birth control pills.

I'm just...Apart from the other uses of the Pill, aren't most women on it because they don't want to be pregnant?
And I have a real problem with any conscience nonsense for pharmacists in particular. If the drug is legal they should be required to dispense it.
Apart from the absolute nonsense of their position over something that is just speculation and there's no science to back up the theory. And even if it does, it's not their place to force their religious views on anyone else.
I just don't understand how people who are supposed to be trained in science can think that way.

"We're seeing a growing trend among pharmacists and medical practitioners who consider it acceptable to impose their morality on women's bodies. I don't think moral aspects should be a concern. Imagine a pharmacist asking a customer whether his Viagra prescription is to enhance sexual performance in his marriage or in an extramarital affair. Never!"

And on the very off chance that it does happen (and just reinforcing the fact that even if it does, it doesn't change my view on the Pill and our rights over our bodies)--every time you get in your car you have a chance of killing someone, an actual breathing life rather than a theoretical potential life...why aren't they trying to ban driving? The risk of killing someone while driving would be massive compared to any possible risk from the pill. It's the same stupidity over vaccinations. The risk to children of whooping cough/measles etc is so much greater than any risk from vaccinations. My mother nearly died from whooping cough; my brother and I got mild cases of whooping cough from the vaccine, but mum had no second thought about the younger two having it. The risk of driving your child anywhere or putting them in a bath is so much greater. Yet people concentrate and carry on about these infinitesimal risks?

It alludes me.
