Disgusted

I don't think anyone was as surprised about the win as Allison herself.
But the number in the media really beating up on her :shakes head:. It's disgusting. You know, people, she probably didn't vote for herself. Enough other people voted for her and that's not her fault. And if you were totally not expecting a win, you try and come up with a coherent speech on the spot.

And I usually like his columns, but not happy with Tim Goodman this time:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2004/09/20/DDGU18QU4T1.DTL
Both in his references to Allison and his declaring of West Wing as constantly inferior in the past.

I don't watch Sopranos, not my cup of tea. I can recognise that the show is good, and the actors are up there at the top. But so was West Wing at its best. There seems to have been many nasty remarks made towards WW by various people associated with the Sopranos in previous years, and it
definitely has soured me towards them. But I don't take away from their deservedness. And I'm extremely happy they won.
Yet I've never heard any of the Wingers take away from fellow nominees or winners or act like they are entitled to the wins.
It's called having some class.

Awesome post Kat- totally agree with your comments there. It's been unbelievable today the amount of attention it has gotten - if they want to throw abuse to someone why not look at James Spader's win - that was equally a shock.

Thank you, Hon.
Couldn't hold it in any longer. They're acting like she's of the calibre of Zsa Zsa Gabor. Allison is a fine actress, and is never anything but the best. And she also has a lot of class and has never acted like she's entitled to anything.

Kat. I agree with all you have said. I haven't seen her get the award - bastard TV here cut her. Just her. But I have seen all sorts of vitriol about her winning, about her speech, about her 'humiliating' her fellow nominees by asking them on to the stage. For fuck's sake.

I bet she's deeply distressed by the whole thing. Takes the shine off somewhat, wouldn't you say? Thank God she works with people who love her.

Why hte hell did they do that? How bloody ridiculous.
I thought her speech was lovely and awkward and all too real. She wanted the others up there because she probably felt that she shouldn't have got it. Nothing to do with humiliating. She has never seemed anything but a genuine humble lady. And I don't think Hollywood knows how to deal with that.

I would think that she will be finding it hard. I don't think (I may be wrong) she's had a negative press since she started on TWW, so it must be very hurtful.

Geez, I missed it and I haven't been reading the newspaper, nor has it been mentioned on CNN or PBS news when I was watching. Sounds bad. Poor Allison.

It's ridiculous.
She has never shown an ego, unlike many of the Sopranos people, and I thought her speech etc was beautifully awkward and real. And yet she's the one who gets attacked.

If she didn't deserve to win she would never have been nominated in the first place! She deserved to win equally as much as the other four women. It just turns out that the voters liked her just that little bit more! If the media don't like that, then that is their tough luck.

"destroyed the universe" -wtf is that supposed to mean?

I have no bloody idea.
And all this nonsense has made me thumb my nose at the rest of them and be very very glad she won.

Yeah, word, I'm gonna take people out back and beat the shit out of them, clearly. The article was crap, and too similar to others floating around, rage rage. And you're absolutely right - during the post-show they talked to both John Spencer and Dulé Hill, and both of them were so gracious and talked about how great The Sopranos is and how they were so glad they won. Whether or not they felt it, they had the class to say it on the air, so that counts for a helluva lot in my book.

Ditto.
I've never heard any graciousness from any of the other mob.
