Bloody hell!

krazykitkatI'm glad the swimming is over. Mum and I stayed up till 3.30am.
Yay Libby in the 50m!
Grant...nearly gave us a heart attack. I watched the start and then went to clean my teeth etc, then came back out at the 1350m mark and was shocked to all hell.
Fabulous race, all kudos to Jensen and the British boy, Davies. They are going to be ones to watch.
But Grant...a true champion. Though he was a rotten colour at the end and could barely move. He told Kieran that he hadn't felt well since the 400, and then it comes out that he's got a chest infection and is on antibiotics. And he broke the Olympic record.
And our girls!!!!! What a magnificent race, and Petria just came over the top for 3 gold and 1 silver and equal with Susie and Dawn, and then Jodie with 3 gold medals and 3 world records. So wonderful.
And of course, Michael Phelps. 6 gold, 2 bronze.
ETA: And award for the most lousy rendition of the national anthem goes to the swimming crowd!!!! Mum and I were in hysterics. They were loud and totally off time.

I wonder who will get the female swimmer of the meet - we all know who got the male swimmer.
I think it would have to be out of Jodie and Petria - Jodie had the 3 Golds which included 1 more WR swim than Petria - on the other hand Petria had an extra silver medal for the 200m Fly.
They were the highest medal winners for any female at the games.

ETA: Interesting to look at those splits - of course we were faster than the night before (Giann set a Backstroke AR, Leisel was faster than Brooke and only 0.18 outside Amanda Beard) - In terms of breaking Olympic Medley Swim records, I think we'll find Petria broke the fastest medley relay swim for butterfly and Jodie was 0.02 outside that first night swim free anchor record.
