I just don't see him thinking he missed out on anything. And as for these stories which has Abbey deciding he wants a son and asking CJ to have it...that's so not Abbey. If Jed ever complained about not having a son she'd be more likely to tell him to grow up and be thankful for what he has got. They have no feeling for the characters.
