Obviously the West Wing viewers are talking about the new ep, but I watched Drought Conditions today and wanted to say a few things.

Very good episode. Would've been excellent, except I wanted to kill the director (sorry, Nadine).

Wasn't just that last merry go round (I loathe swivel camera work with a passion), there were several earlier in the episode too. There also seemed to be shaky cam at points, and the continuous scenes (going from one group of people/room to another in the White House) seemed a little rough/shaky/non-smooth to me. There was also some camera moving closer in on the profiles for a moment during the Josh/Toby office scene and it bugged me.

And the thing I hated most was the stupid bloody freeze frame. In fact I think the fight scene would've worked better/seemed less out of place if it had been allowed to continue straight through. No freeze frame and no flash forward.
But Josh and Toby wrestle like brothers do, no matter what their age (I have two of them).

I've seen none of the episodes since Josh left. But very unimpressed with him tonight. I understand he was feeling on the outer etc, but I hated his attitude through the entire episode. Wasn't even impressed with him during the early scenes with Santos. I understand he's in a different role now, he's the man, but if the show continues and he's pretty much the only one left of the core cast, I'm not watching.

However, I was impressed with Donna. Professional, cool calm and collected, looked great. Donna always tended to bug me when she was around Josh, but I could really like this Donna. And I know everyone else hates Will, but I quite liked what I saw.

Annabeth - I think this was my first sighting of her. I quite liked her. And laughed at the rubber band firing.

I'm liking the CJ/Leo working together. And I loved the CJ and Cliff interaction. They play really well off each other.

Now to the CJ/Toby...that scene in his office was sublime. Two people who know each other so well.
However, after all the anticipation, I felt let down by the scene at the party. I felt no passion at all in her lines or Toby's response (I'm sorry, [livejournal.com profile] lifeasanamazon). I don't know, but there was more passion/sexual tension between Toby and Rafferty, though that could just be Toby being his usual old flirt (and I have a love for Mel Harris, really liked Something so right (one of the few US comedies I've been able to stand)).
Maybe it's because they are so comfortable with each other, they don't need the flirting/passion there. I just expected something more. Felt more to me like she was giving him the weather report or something, very matter of fact. Maybe I'm dense.

Was beautifully filmed though, and she looked amazing. There's a couple of frames of her full outfit when she's taking Cliff over to Leo. Only the top was black. The skirt was more earth colours with a circular pattern as far as I could tell.
