Apr. 24th, 2009 12:48 amI watched the first episode of Mad Men now that it's finally made its way to free-to-air tv down here. I went in with some trepidation because I've found a number of the critically acclaimed shows of recent years have done nothing for me, though I can see why they are good (6 Feet Under and Sopranos in particular).
So was a little surprised that I really liked it and wasn't bored (especially since I seem to remember some of the flist saying it was slow). Though by the end of the episode I wanted to smack Peggy for being such a bloody idiot. And still not a fan of Vincent Kartheiser.
I'll probably watch at least another episode before deciding whether to get the dvds (which have been out here for quite a while). Does it continue at this standard?

Really strange - Flashpoint season 1 (13 eps) is out here on dvd. Yet it's not out in North America, tvshowsondvd haven't even got any news on it. Maybe because channel nein was stuffing it around? The biggest selling tv dvds here are usually the ones that get stuffed around by the networks the most.

Just found out that Chess in Concert will be available soon. PBS are showing it in June, and there will be a dvd release. Idina Menzel and Josh Groban are the only names I recognise, but I'm looking forward to it. I wish I'd been able to see it on stage. Though I don't think anyone can outdo Murray Head on One Night in Bangkok.
