krazykitkat: (stitch with ducks)
Santa came around this evening on the bushfire truck. Except, this year was a little different. Santa was riding Puff the Tragic Waggon instead of Puff the Magic Wagon. Puff the Tragic is a 1940s fire truck that the bushfire brigade have restored. She's beautiful, but did almost run out of steam climbing up our hill. It was hilarious.

5 photos and two videos below the cut, including the classic fire truck siren (bringing back old movie memories).

Oh, please, Ray, come back!

Talk about inane chatter from the new "hosts". We're watching for the carols, not your breakfast patter. And we can't stand Karl. Gah!

And why oh why was it moved an hour earlier? The first hour felt like it was a dress rehearsal with the sunlight streaming in. Plus, we're not ready to sit down and watch at 8pm. We ended up recording it and watching the first half after it had finished. One benefit was that we could fastforward through the hosts and Hi-5.

Thank goodness for Marina, Silvie and Dennis.

I like David Campbell's voice, but it didn't really suit O Holy Night. The end number with Jimmy was great.

And I discovered that I've been misunderstanding The First Noel for most of my life:

The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
in fields as they lay;

I thought 'to certain' meant something like 'to reassure' where 'certain' was some archaic use of the word. I thought it was a verb, not that the angel was discriminating. My sister thinks I'm an idiot.
