Well that was unexpected!
Aug. 23rd, 2008 01:02 amOMG! Just watched the men's pole vault final! We were clapping and yelling.
Australia's Steve Hooker won gold! And then continued to break the Olympic record!
So bloody exciting!!
I know, a lot of exclamation marks, but see, we don't do so well on dry land. Apparently this was the first men's gold medal in field since 1948, and the first in men's track & field since 1968. And our first athletics gold medal since Cathy Freeman in 2000.
