Jul. 17th, 2007 03:03 pmSydneysiders woke up to their coldest July morning in 21 years today, when the thermometer dipped to 3.7 degrees [~38F].
The minimum temperature was reached at 6.54am today and beat by one degree a July record set just yesterday.
"We had high pressure sitting over the state so, with a clear sky and very little wind, here it comes, the lowest temperature," senior meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, Peter Zmijewski, said.
The temperature is the lowest recorded at Sydney's Observatory Hill since July 27, 1986, when the mercury plunged to 3.1 degrees.
You of colder climes may laugh, but that's frigging cold for us. And we're not well insulated against the cold.
I survived my first morning at TAFE. Was running late, didn't get there till 9.45am, supposed to be a 9am start. But me being anywhere before noon is a major achievement. And I talked to the person and it's fine for me to start around 10am.
And I've been able to change my work hours so I don't start till 2.30pm on Wednesday and just do a 4 hour shift, so I can sleep in a bit.
