Jun. 18th, 2007 01:32 amThe worst thing about chilblains (before they become ulcerated and icky and sting like hell) is the bloody itchiness. Drives me nuts. My poor pinky seems to have two. I need to be more careful.

People are idiots.
Drama at the weekend peaked yesterday in the form of two rescues in 12 hours by a NSW Ambulance Service helicopter team.
A group of 12 high school students walking in the Megalong Valley as part of a Duke of Edinburgh Award attempt and their two guides were rescued by helicopter yesterday morning after deciding not to cross the raging Coxs River.
Police Assistant Commissioner Denis Clifford criticised Arndell Anglican College organisers for setting out on the trip despite severe weather warnings. He has asked to meet the principal of the Oakville school, John Goddard, this week.
"I am amazed that someone would take kids into that environment during that weather," he said.
Mr Goddard defended the guides' decision to embark on the walk, saying that police had had a chance to advise them against leaving.
"We checked the forecast during the week and sent our details off to the National Parks people and the police," he said.
"They knew we were going and they didn't say 'don't go'."
Yesterday afternoon four men were rescued from the Nepean River. They told police they had hung from branches after being swept from their river bank camping spot.
One was rescued by a civilian boat and three were retrieved by helicopter, but none sustained serious injuries.
The men in trees should've been left there. Very heavy rains + strong winds = not a good idea to camp anywhere let alone beside a major river
And the guides should be shot for stupidness. There was a severe weather warning. What other information did they need to realise it wasn't a good idea? Charge the school for the cost of the rescue.
But our dam levels should go up to 45%!!!! First time in 3 years.
