Hypocrisy, thy name is A Current Affair
Sep. 7th, 2006 12:45 amWas very impressed with Steve Irwin's father's press conference. Brought a lump to my throat.
And if they decide to have a private funeral, butt out media. And I'll blacklist the first vulture who tries to interview Bindi. Was disgusted enough with ACA last night with the referring to her as the next Crocodile Hunter. She's a little kid who's going through the worst thing in her world. Stop trying to typecast her.
Very unimpressed with the Germaine Greer bashing. She didn't say she was glad he died or he deserved to die. She basically stated the point that he did annoy wild animals until they tried to attack him. To me that isn't respecting or loving animals. When the media keeps going on ad nauseum about what an animal lover he was, why are they surprised when someone speaks up to disagree? Mum's going to call channel 9 tomorrow and complain.
And after they bashed her on A Current Affair (can we get over the "UnAustralian" nonsense, it's up there with "elites" on the overused and meaningless list of insults), they then had a phone poll asking "Should the death footage be shown?" Any sane feeling person wouldn't even consider that question should be asked.
Some thoughts on the role of the media here.
