Cancelling today
Dec. 17th, 2005 12:10 amRemember how I mentioned about my anxiety levels being rather high? Kinda came to a bit of a head today.
Had last day of work yesterday, work Chrissie bbq today down at Gladesville. The morning didn't start well with a courier dropping off a parcel that needed to be signed for while I was *ahem* indisposed. By the time all was said and done, didn't leave home till the usual time I leave for work, even though I'd had a half hour headstart.
My sister drove me down to Gladesville with me map reading, we can get places together. I was a little anxious, plus it was warm. The park was down on the Parramatta River, but no breeze. I managed to eat a little lunch and conversed with workmates. Our big boss (lovely bloke) sat with our little group and found out about his work history. He started off in immunology research, and is now in market research. Talked a bit about the problems with science research funding.
After about 90 minutes I was starting to suffer with the heat, called my sister to pick me up. We stopped at my work on the way back so I could drop in a gift for my immediate boss who'll be back from maternity leave on Monday. Then drove out onto Talavera Road, North Ryde, and the car stopped twice. My sister's car can be a little temperamental, so we weren't too worried. But it stopped again just as we got onto Lane Cove Road. Few more metres, stopped again. And again.
At this stage we're in the middle lane of Lane Cove Road heading north, directly above the M2. One of the busiest roads in Sydney at the start of peak hour. ( the saga continues... )
