krazykitkat: (bedtime [by spiffyicons])
Hoping for a quiet night on the cage front.

Just after I'd cleaned my teeth last night, heard flapping from the birdcage. Rushed out, turned lights on, pulled the towel up slowly, to find both CJ and Eddie hanging on the back of the cage.

Eddie started flapping around the cage again, all freaked, while CJ got back onto the perch and out of the way. Eddie ended up on the front of the cage, so I put my hand in and just stroked her back. Eventually I was able to get her to sit one of her claws on my hand, but took a while to get her to let go with the other claw, it was clenched tight on the cage. Continued stroking her and she finally just sat on my hand.

After a few minutes I put her on the perch but she flapped again and once more ended up on the front of the cage. I caught hold of her and held her against my chest, all cocooned in my hands. I put her back in when she started biting and wriggling too much.

Left the light on for five minutes or so more, hoping they'd make it back up onto the swings, but when I went to bed Eddie was still on the bottom perch where I'd left her. And CJ was on the top perch looking a little on edge.

No ill effects this morning. Not sure what happened, whether one turned around on the swing and knocked something, or fell off the swing, or had a nightmare.
