Jul. 16th, 2005 03:21 pmYou're probably all off reading HP. I've got the first 5 sitting here and have only read the first one. Don't totally understand the appeal. And I managed to doze off during the third movie.
Had 6 monthly work review yesterday. I'm doing fine, though K (my boss) asked why I wasn't bored senseless ;) I said I was starting to get bored, but now with the extreme tiredness, I don't really have the energy to be bored. She's going to show me how to do some extra things, so I can help back up E (a workmate who's taking over K's job when she goes on maternity leave in mid-September).
If any of the Sydney-ites are interested in a casual job like mine (set your own shifts, min. 12 hours per week), drop me an email.
Long day yesterday. There was a fatal accident on Ryde/Lane Cove Road late arvo, closing both directions for a while, dad called me at work to say that my sister would pick me up (she was at the uni just up the road). Then was talking to K and realised that my sister probably wouldn't be able to get to me, as the traffic in our street would be backed up trying to get onto Ryde Road (we're nearly on the corner). So K offered to drop me up at the uni, which she did (and the traffic was terrible). Then sister and I thought it was best just to wait awhile, hoping the traffic the other way (through Beecroft and Pennant Hills) would quieten down a bit. Left about 6:40pm. Slow traffic along Epping and Beecroft Road. Finally got home after 7:30pm.

Eddie was so funny yesterday morning. If it's sunny we put the cage in front of the back door to give them a bit of sun. There was a rainbow lorikeet sitting on the main windowsill, and Eddie could see it. She started standing up straight and thrusting out her chest and doing these little flaps (she's done this before when the lorikeets have been around). Then she was fanning her tail (courting behaviour) and also jumping around the bottom of the cage and doing these little spins.
We think she wants a big brave lorikeet to carry her off into the sunset (she doesn't understand that it would squash her). CJ doesn't have a chance.

How would a national ID card help in a situation like London's bombings? They were British born/citizens, cleanskins. Plus, identity doesn't prove intent.
I'm totally against it on principle. And talk about making it easy for identity theft. All the information you could ever need in one place. The police don't need to know my taxable income, and the tax office doesn't need to know my health status.
Next time the PM mentions it in connection with the London bombings, could someone in the press please ask how it would make any difference?
