athena4lynn, my CJ is a high-maintenance bird. A little like his namesake.
I wish he was more like Donna - a bird on a budget.
The vet bills/medication is going to end up costing about 5 times what I paid for him, and is causing a very large hole in my bank account. He's got a second visit in two weeks to check his beak growth.
The vet ought to be a cricket or baseball fielder. CJ got out of dad's hands and was flying round and round the small examination room. The vet missed the first time, but managed to grab him mid-air the second time.
Got medication for the scaly beak, have to put a drop on each side of the cere once a week, for both CJ and Eddie. He also clipped CJ's beak. It's still not great, but is making it easier for him to eat and preen, and hopefully CJ'll start to shape it a bit himself.
