The next flying ant that thumps me in the back of the head is going to join its other 2 mates down the sink...

So adore migraines, especially the way the tv blurs and mosaics.

It's been at least 2 days and Matlab still isn't running on the uni system...I need it dammit! I'm using my sister's pc version but I have to keep going back to the uni system to find other files I need and then download and transfer them. Still, a good excuse for not having done the wavelet analysis, apart from the fact I don't know whether the subtropical mode water volume has been calculated and if it hasn't how the hell I'm supposed to do it.
:makes note:
NEVER volunteer for research work again. Essay marking is fine, latex is fine, even the tracking down references.
But not actual research using actual computers and statistics and Matlab and things like filters and fourier transforms and wavelets (though the leopard idea fascinated me).
I've put it off for a year, kinda have to get it finished now. Plus the money would be nice.

And Centrelink can burn in hell

Well that rain on the weekend didn't do any good.
Between 2.30 and 3.30 this afternoon 35 fires broke out across Sydney. Several near us, including one of the worst just to the northwest. Started at Maroota and is expected to jump into Berowra/Berowra Heights tonight. Many people I went to school with lived in those suburbs (which is 2-3 suburbs north of us).
If it goes through there it might not stop till it hits the coast.
Another fire in the south of Sydney at Holsworthy and is also heading to the coast.
There has been property lost but they're not sure how many, too busy to count.

Was 37C (99F) today, very strong hot westerly winds. Will drop a little over night but supposed to be really strong again tomorrow.
There's been power dips and surges right across Sydney all afternoon due to fires underneath high voltage wires. Only 15-20 fire trucks left across Sydney and they have to be kept in reserve.
The next 24 hours is going to be particularly hairy
