Such sense
Aug. 13th, 2002 04:04 pmI'm still amazed by how much I agree with Malcolm Fraser these days. He and Gough seem to have become friends, and he's really moved to the left. He talks such sense on refugees and other humanitarian and political matters.
And now he's weighing in on Australian government support for a war against Iraq.
Support the US, yes, but not at the expense of our national interest
Particularly interesting was the section on why Saddam was not taken out during the Gulf War. I didn't know that.
I wonder whether there's a collection somewhere of the numerous op-eds he's writing these days.
And now the slight modicum of respect I had for Downer after the ICC has totally gone, with him accusing Crean of sprouting the Iraqi line. Grow up.
Dissent and questioning are vital now more than ever. If that is interpreted as being anti-American or pro-Iraqi, then that says more about the narrow simplistic views of the people making the accusation than the dissenters and questioners
