Was just reading on Wil Wheaton's blog that Danica McKeller (Wonder Years, Will's sister on West Wing) has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from UCLA, where she co-authored a math proof as an undergrad. And was also the only undergraduate invited to speak at Rutgers University's biannual Statistical Mechanics conference a few years ago.
How very cool.

I'm guessing that might be why she disappeared from sight for a while there - she had better things to do than act. (Although it kind of makes me want to write a Fred/Elsie Angel/tWW crossover *g*)

James Blake (American tennis player, played the Hopman with Davenport a few years back) is a Harvard undergrad, majoring in pure math. I've always been seriously impressed by that, too.

I struggled so much with 3 years of uni maths, I'm very impressed by mathematicians. I need numbers to plug into things.

I bid a fond grateful farewell to Math at the end of highschool. Only now I have to do adjustments and work out percentages and amounts of taxes due, while a client is on the phone and wants an answer now, and my supervisor views math as an interesting hobby. *sigh*

And I really should have done tax law at uni, too...
