RIP Daddy Parker :(
Harve Presnell died 30th June, aged 75, from pancreatic cancer.
Andrea Parker mentioned on one of the dvd commentaries that he'd leave her voice mails saying, "Hello Angel, it's Daddy." He sounded like a lovely man.
If he'd been born 10-20 years earlier, he would probably have been one of the great movie musical stars. I'm glad he got such great character roles in his later years.
I will go and listen to "They call the wind Maria" in honour of him.

This is the first thing I thought about when I heard. I am stupidly sad about this. :(

I came so close to writing him a fan letter back when Pretender was on. Mum and I tracked down a 1960 recording of Carmina Burana because he was on it. He had a glorious voice.
And his Daddy Parker was a thing of beauty, you never knew whether he had feelings towards Miss Parker or not.

Me too! It was so cool to hear. And it made him sound like such a character.
And I remember they said in the commentaries that he was endlessly entertaining - dancing and singing between takes. What a guy, huh? *Sniff*

Uh - the bit about him calling Andrea Parker "angel" - not his death.
(I just woke up. Brain doesn't start working until 10 am).

And I understood what you meant.
