find writing movement extremely difficult (I’d happily just write dialogue), and it always reads as clumsy to me.
Yes, it's something one needs to work on as a writer. I find it difficult too and I've had to pay attention to how accomplished writers do it. It's part of that whole 'invisible' writing thing - we don't know how to do it because it's invisible writing - we don't notice it.
