Makybe Diva did it!

Only horse to win 3 consecutive Melbourne Cups (and Glen Boss first jockey to win 3 consecutive).

The seven-year-old mare, ridden by Glen Boss and trained by Lee Freedman, beat a field of 24 in the world-famous race at Flemington - the 145th of the series, despite carrying 58 kilograms - the equal top weight ever.

Tears watching her come through at the end.

And I'm sure Mummify was watching over her and is now kicking up his heels in the big paddock in the sky.

ETA: And that is her last race.

bloody good, eh!

And she came from quite far behind - I was worried with the extra weight.

What a beautiful horse.

Amazing. And she's such a fine looking horse.

It's also wonderful coming after the loss of poor Mummify.

Yes, Mummify's loss was heartbreaking.

Diva's the finest horse that ever ran.

Big WORD to all of that especially the part about Mummify - loved watching it - mum and I were sitting here with tears in the eyes (heck after my full on bawling after the Cox Plate).

Never thought I'd get teary over a horse race. And perfect that they've retired her on top.

I didnt see the race. But I'm glad she did it. She's surely the greatest this country has ever seen. So beautiful too.

We watched it in the cafeteria thingy at work. Twas very crowded. There was a big screen set up in the corner. Nicole, Emily and I stood by the food place to watch, 'cept Nicole and Emily were a bit too short to see properly over the crowd.

Emily wouldn't let us go to the pre-race festivities, she said we had too much to do ;).
