Welcome to my sister, rinkle, otherwise known as the anonymous me commenter.

She's brilliant, just received (well, still unofficial) 1st Class Honours for her thesis on radial velocities in the Southern Coalsack, and today received the letter awarding her a scholarship for her PhD next year. She's going to be the richest person in the house!

Saw my rheumatologist this arvo. Don't have to see him again till March...a whole 4 months without him...how am I going to survive???
Have to put up with the half falling off nails. He said it would be much more painful to take them off and expose the nailbed.

It's a pain. Get through winter, my fingers are down to normal size with no chilblains, and my nails start falling apart. Totally cracked, but too late for nail polish because it will get down to the nailbed.
And my toe nail is a total pain. It's half off (the right half, the left is still firmly attached), and it's now starting to hurt in the bath or when I do a bit of walking. But i have to wait till it grows out and that's going to be months.

Just curious about your sisters scholarship. I don't know anything about the system but was it automatic that she was awarded one with the honours or did she have to put in an application outlining what she wants to research?

She put in an application (they are federal government scholarships) which detailed past education plus research topic/supervisor etc. She also had to put in an outline of the research.
Based on their academic achievements, they were then ranked and the top however many were awarded scholarships.
