I could really do without the heart-pounding shit-where-the-hell-is-my-debit-card?!?! moment. Thankfully, after some mad brain scrambling, I remembered it was in my desk (waiting for the new expiry date to be updated on amazon & paypal), and Mother was on hand to bail me out.

JB Hi-fi has some great 'buy 2, get 1 free' tv box set deals. I got the first 2 seasons of Criminal Minds, plus s2-4 of Golden Girls. Mum got s1-5 of NCIS and s1-3 of Supernatural.

Then it was trying to figure out the last 2 box sets. I either had all the seasons available (or the latest season which I don't have wasn't included in the sale), or I wasn't interested in the show. Or like Alias, I liked the show, but I couldn't put up with bloody Rambaldi and his red ball again. So it came down to Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice or Battlestar Galactica. I couldn't remember what seasons of GA I preferred (apart from the current season), so I ended up going with s1 & 2 of BSG. If I don't like it, I'll throw them at my brother and you lot ;)

*

Finally picked up my Bookkeeping certificate. It's quite nice looking, though not sure if it'll ever be put to use.

*

Finish work next Tuesday, then off for 2.5 weeks. I really need the break, so bloody tired. Not much planned - brother's medieval festival, "An Evening with Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone", and probably into Sydney another day. And hopefully lots of tv.

Finished my season 3 The Pretender dvds tonight. I'd forgotten how good the finale, "Donoterase", was.

That gorgeous scene of Miss Parker with Jarod clone, and then later talking to Syd about him and the look on her face. And Jarod pretty much sacrificing himself to get Parker to safety. She had some fabulous outfits - especially the leather pants/long leather coat/(snake skin?) shirt. And Parker and Broots and their cute little asses (I have a little thing for Parker/Broots - she'd kill him, but he'd get a thrill).

Actually my sister's now asking for Dean (Supernatural)/Miss Parker fic, if anyone wants to help out... In my case, if anyone can direct me to some Dean/Ellen...

*

Watching Heroes last night, mum cracked us up. Only the Aussies will get this, but she's decided Mr. Bennet is a ringer for one of our former federal pollies. She just pointed out the resemblance to start with, and then starting referring to moments in the episode with, "you know when Mark Latham..."

*

So so tired of this bloody humidity. Even though it was low 20s (low 70Fs) today, the humidity made it uncomfortable. The last week we've been averaging high 20s-low 30s (80-90F), and with over 70% humidity, it's been close to unbearable. February sucks, though even January was on the unpleasant side.

Always wait till after Christmas to buy calendars to take advantage of the 50% off. Bought a weather one and a gorgeous one of Gil Elvgren pin-up girls (I was wondering what mum would say, but she admired it). They won't be used, I like to keep calendars that have gorgeous pictures. Will get a cheap one for writing on.

Bought Desperate Houswives season 2 dvds for cheap (KMart has 20% off). But still can't get Stargate Atlantis season 2 for a decent price. JB Hifi has been sold out for about 3 weeks and they had it the cheapest. I would've got it at KMart if they'd had it. A number of the stores seems to have sold out, and the few that did have it were $75 and up. I don't know whether limited stock was released originally.

Anyone watch Millennium (the tv series) in recent years?

Trying to decide whether to get it on dvd (amazon has a good deal on it, plus I have a gift certificate). Been a long time since I watched it and not sure whether I ever saw 3rd season. Not sure whether time will have diminished it.

I'm a little amused that Elisabeth Moss (Zoey - tWW) and John Goodman were the two main characters in the cartoon Frosty Returns back when she was 9.

But I don't know why they included it with the Rankin & Bass shows since it wasn't one (and wasn't that good). I would have much preferred Book 2 of the Little Drummer Boy (I thought I was misremembering the silver bells - and my brother remembers the drum being burnt and said it made him cry and made baby Jesus cry).

Thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] melwil. My cape and stripey tights brought a big smile to my face (which I desperately needed).

For Christmas, I bought my parents A Christmas Story and some of the Rankin & Bass Christmas specials on dvd. We watched The Little Drummer Boy, Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town and Frosty the Snowman this afternoon.

Been years since I've seen them (bloody tv stations stopped showing them), but they're like old friends. Little Drummer Boy made me cry, I wonder whether it's because of that show that hearing the song always makes me weepy.

This made my day, I very nearly squealed.

Fox has just announced "Christy The Complete Series" for release on March 20, 2007. This 4 disc set contains all 20 episodes (907 mins) from the 1994 series starring Kellie Martin as Christy Huddleston. (and Tyne Daly)

I've been waiting so long for this. I've got nearly all of it on tape, but I was even looking at the released tapes (which cost a fortune), and apparently there were problems with the rights. So looking forward to it!

Pretender tv movies finally coming out! The collection will finally be complete :)

*

The Inside intrigues me. I was expecting a straight forward police procedural, but should have known that any show from Tim Minear (and with various other Angel/Buffy alumni on board) would be a bit off kilter. I can see the influence of Angel et al on the look of the show in particular. 7 better keep showing it.

Peter Coyote's character, Web - not sure whether he's saner than the people he's chasing. Wonder if he drove the agent to do what she did. And with Rebecca essentially a stunted child emotionally and wanting to please, she's in real danger from him. He seems willing to sacrifice his agents.

Were talking about this at dinner, and I mentioned about Dexter and the family are interested in it. Just hope a network here picks it up, though they might butcher it.

From tv shows on dvd:

The daily goings-on in the small town of Rome, Wisconsin are definite proof that real life is often stranger than fiction. From the murder of the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz" to a student who brings in a severed hand for show-and-tell and a menopausal woman who runs over her husband with a steamroller, Sheriff Jimmy Brock has seen it all. Indeed, behind the tidy picket fences of this quirky little town lie all the same problems and prejudices found in the big city, except in a small town everyone seems to know everyone else's business - or thinks they do!

We mentioned that we'd see more David E. Kelley titles coming when we posted the artwork for the second season of Boston Legal, and this is exactly what we were expecting. Fox has announced the first season of the award-winning series [Picket Fences] will be released on February 13, 2007. The 22 episode season will fit on 6 discs (989 mins), and will sell for $59.98 US, or $89.98 CAN (Canadians should consider ordering this from the US to save money). The Full Frame (1.33:1) video will be joined by Dolby Surround audio tracks in English, French and Spanish.

1. Disc 1: Pilot
2. The Green Bay Chopper
3. Mr. Dreeb Comes to Town

Disc 2:
4. The Autumn of Rome
5. Frank, the Potato Man
6. Remembering Rosemary
7. The Contenders

Disc 3:
8. Sacred Hearts
9. Thanksgiving
10. Snake Lady
11. Pagentry

Disc 4:
12. High Tidings
13. Frogman
14. Bad Moon Risings
15. Nuclear Meltdowns

Disc 5:
16. The Body Politic
17. Be My Valentine
18. Fetal Attraction
19. Sightings

Disc 6:
20. Rights of Passage
21. Sugar & Spice
22. Lullaby League

The set will also include two featurettes; we hope to have artwork soon.

Another one on my list ticked off! I'm soooo excited.

From ezydvd:

Prisoner - Cell Block H: The Complete Collection (179 Disc Box Set)

Prisoner Cell Block H ran for 8 years from 1979 - 1986 across 692 episodes. "The Complete Collection" brings together all 692 episodes on 179 DVDs with a special commemorative book, commissioned for the project all packaged together in a collectible and unique box that every Prisoner fan will want to own.

Due to size constraints on international shipping, we are regrettably unable to fulfill overseas orders for this item.

And all for the low low price of $1599.83!

Which only works out to $9 per disc, but boy would you have to be a seriously devoted fan...and probably own a delivery van to pick it up. Does it come with its own little trolley?

eta: and AoGG the Sequel due out 17th Jan.
